Commissions Unit- Editing Workshop

Yesterday we had an editing workshop with an editor for the BBC, John Ramsden. We were given the task at the end of the day of editing together a film. This was done using previously filmed footage that Helen, or course tutor had filmed at the Canterbury Stone Masonry. Luckily we were given a manuscript for the proceedings which turned out to be a big help in deciding what to keep.

The biggest challenge I had to face when making the project was trying to make the sound seamless. This was difficult because the recorded dialogue was all over the place but I think it turned out quite well once I had made some small changes to the sound clipping. When I showed Helen the first edit of my footage she thought it was quite good in the sound department. I later on added extra pieces of footage as coverage (i.e stonemasonry footage, finished stones).

I think it all came together quite seamlessly in the finished edit for the short time we had and overall it was a happy experience working on this mini-project.
